Audience

Staff employed in roles relating to planning, particularly those working within a planning department undertaking DA processing responsibilities as part of their position.

Course objectives

Refine their skills and overall understanding of council planning and statutory planning procedures.

Provide skilled para-professional assistance to qualified planners in local government and further advance towards a full planning degree.

Course pathways

Participants will be required to have sound planning knowledge and skill, either by being employed in a role carrying out these skills or through prior experience in this field.

On successful completion of your course and all assessments, you will receive a Nationally recognised qualification outlining the course completed and the units within that course.

Pre-requisites
  • Have a minimum of two-years full-time employment, working within the Development Assessment section of the Planning Department; and
  • Hold a position which requires you to undertake tasks within the Council’s planning processes; or
  • Acquired a completed Performance Appraisal statement within the last twelve months, confirming your competencies within the Planning Department.

Delivery
Our instructor-led course provides participants with interactive sessions including group discussions, case study reviews, question and answer sessions. Our training course includes all course training materials, assessment and mentoring/assistance by your allocated trainer.
Duration & location
Our standard structure for this course is 6 full days to be completed over a period of six months and can be delivered in any metropolitan or regional areas of Queensland.
