Good governance and community leadership

We provide a range of nationally recognised qualifications (local government specific) and council-specific non-accredited short courses as well as other professional development training options.

The executive team need to work closely with the mayor and councillors in abiding by what has been described as the four principles of governance — accountability, transparency, fairness, and responsibility — serving the interests of all stakeholders and the community.

Good governance goes hand in hand with community leadership and community engagement.  Good governance involves ensuring that there is sufficient ongoing dialogue with the community in matters of direct concern to them.

Community leadership involves providing a vision and related strategies to the community in conjunction with key members of the community, listening to and acting upon community concerns, and working closely with other community leaders in the voluntary, community and business sectors.

This workshop will assist participants to identify key elements of good governance and appraise the effectiveness of their community leadership and engagement.
