Long-term strategic and financial planning

We provide a range of nationally recognised qualifications (local government specific) and council-specific non-accredited short courses as well as other professional development training options.

As part of their financial management system, local governments must have strategic, financial, and operational plans, which are supported by financial policies on investment, debt, and revenue.

The councils’ five-year corporate plan drives and coordinates all strategic documents and policies and forms the basis of strategic decision-making, as well as community engagement.

The executive team has a key role in signing off and overseeing progress on achievement of all these plans.  As such, they need to have a solid understanding of all the plans and the various indicators demonstrating progress toward achievement of the plans.

The workshop is designed to familiarise participants with the various components of the financial management system, the relevant key performance indicators, and to help them analyse their own council’s financial status.
