Legal and Ethical Responsibilities for Councillors

We provide a range of nationally recognised qualifications (local government specific) and council-specific non-accredited short courses as well as other professional development training options.

Local Government exists under the Queensland Constitution and your roles and responsibilities are set out in the Local Government Act 2009 (the Act) and the Local Government Regulation 2012 (the Reg).

The Act sets out a broad range of legislative requirements with which all councils in Queensland must comply.
