Julie-Anne Schafer

Julie-Anne has experience as a Director/Chair in highly regulated sectors- infrastructure, financial services, insurance, member services, transport, energy, water utilities, and health.

Julie-Anne has an Honours degree in Law from the University of Queensland, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD), a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course (GAICD) and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF).

She was previously a partner in Brisbane professional legal service firms for 25 years, specialising in commercial and insurance matters.

She facilitates Governance and the Practice of Directorship, and also Risk and Strategy, in the AICD Company Directors Course.

She has been Deputy Chancellor of QUT, an Adjunct Professor in law at the University of Queensland and a member of Law Faculty Advisory Committees at Griffith and Bond Universities, QUT and the University of Queensland.

Julie-Anne was also a director of a number of hospitals and served as a trustee director overseeing the entity responsible for operating a number of hospitals, community and care facilities, across several  States.

She was also a director of an entity that provides aged care and community services. She was Chair of the National Injury Insurance Agency Qld (in excess of 300 participants) and a significant fund ($2.3 billion). The Agency functions have been returned to the Insurance Commission.

Her board roles have been in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT and the Northern Territory.
