Our Strong Heritage
Peak Services is uniquely placed as a commercial enterprise to focus on the needs of Queensland councils and their communities. We are wholly owned by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and operate as a profit-for-purpose enterprise, with all our profits boosting the LGAQ’s work of advising, supporting and representing Queensland’s councils.
Our people, your team
Our purpose is to help local government achieve more and our people are at the forefront of everything we do as local government. Our people are your people. Your team. Our combined professional strengths and integrated capabilities are as diverse as the communities we serve.
We have people working in each and every Queensland council and we understand the specific challenges faced by local government.
We are here to support your community
We support the communities where we live and work and demonstrate this by sponsoring a variety of local events across Queensland. These events and initiatives are run by councils, contributing to fundraising for local causes, boosting economic development and enhancing liveability across the state.
In recognition of the innovative spirit of Queensland local governments, in 2018 we launched the Butch Lenton Memorial Bush Council Award (in honour of the late Mayor of Winton Shire Council Graeme ‘Butch’ Lenton). This award provides a bursary to a council or individual who would like to undertake an activity that demonstrates innovation. This award is presented at the LGAQ Annual Conference.
Peak partners with many councils, in particular regional/remote locations, to provide social benefits to numerous local communities, including:
Social infrastructure projects – our Technical Advisory Team helps councils manage key social infrastructure projects, bolstering a sense of community, culture and pride in local towns. We assist councils to manage community assets and ensure they are well maintained for generations to come.
Community grant writing assistance – Peak provides grant writing assistance for multiple council and community projects, securing $50m in grant funding for Queensland councils and their communities.
eLearning training for remote communities – Peak provides online learning through a web-based Learning Management System (LMS), enabling remote council staff to be trained onsite.
We are here to build capability in your people
A robust recruitment process and hiring the right people is more important than ever before. Peak’s recruitment team has unparalleled experience in helping councils find talented professionals for key executive roles and we provide access to a pool of highly experienced professionals who are ready to get to work in interim, short- and long-term placements.
Peak provides a range of nationally accredited qualifications, professional development short courses and eLearning solutions to meet the training needs of local government. With over 20 years’ experience, we are the largest Registered Training Organisation (RTO no: 30003) specialising in local government in Queensland, training more than 4,000 participants per year.
We are here to deliver value in your operations
Helping councils with long term financial sustainability is a core focus of our infrastructure team. Through enhanced energy solutions to offset rising energy costs, optimise waste management operations, greater outcomes in managing assets and high-quality outcomes and value in the delivery of bespoke and complex projects. Underpinning these services, the team assists councils in securing grants through the various levels of funding arrangements.
