Ranger Station Development - Mapoon Aboriginal Shire Council

Back

Peak assisted council with its Building Our Regions Round 5 funding application. The project to be funded is a business case for a new Ranger Station development in the Mapoon CBD, which will be a high use area and focal point for visitors.

The project will complement other tourism developments, including the proposed expansion of a short stay accommodation complex and planned Cultural Centre in the main street. Council anticipates a significant increase in visitor numbers when it launches its first tourism marketing campaign at the Cape York Tourism Promotion in Cooktown 2020. Council will have a strong presence at this event which is specifically designed to market the very Far North to self-drive travellers.

Central to the grant application, the project will stimulate economic growth by sustaining and creating jobs through employing council’s construction and civil works teams during the construction phase.
