Read about the fund here

The Preparing Australian Communities Program Local Steam will contribute significantly to supporting communities as they undertake disaster risk reduction and resilience initiatives that reduce the impact of future natural hazards, specifically bushfires, floods, and tropical cyclones.

Providing locally identified and locally led projects with up to $10 million in funding, this Australian-wide program will prioritise selected Local Government Area (LGA's) projects in locations where there is greater hazard risk.

The intended outcome of the grant is to support initiatives that benefit the public by reducing:

  • the impact of future natural hazards on communities
  • the burden of recovery in communities following future disasters.
